|Sewing has been a constant in my life, being at one time or another economic necessity, creative outlet or part-time career, until the mid 80s when I thought I had closed up the machine for good. The discovery of art-to-wear has prompted my enthusiastic resurrection of those early skills. My continued love affair with textiles prompts my husband to search out shops on his business travels and return with silks and brocades from China, Thailand, Singapore. Years of experimenting with collage come into play then when I "collage" a garment from my selections of these gorgeous oriental fabrics, my own hand-created ones, and other unusual fabric finds . Again, it is often a question of starting the design process, then waiting to see where it takes me. Each garment is a learning experience.
